Puppy Series Wines
The wines in this series offer excellent value and universal appeal. Priced under $20.00/bottle, each release is of exceptional quality—several having been made by internationally acclaimed winemakers. The label art features an original drawing of a different breed of dog we’ve either owned or come across in our travels.
Tasting Notes 2011
Our Savvy was made under the direction of Matt Thomson, awarded New Zealand’s Winemaker of the Year in 2008 and again in 2010.
Sourced from several different vineyard sites in Marlborough, we were able to take advantage of the different characteristics of each
vineyard. This Savvy is bright, crisp, with aromas of passion fruit and hints of grapefruit; well-balanced, with a long, elegant, lingering finish.
A refreshing wine to have by the pool on a hot summer day or try it with a breakfast burrito!
All our labels feature original, limited-edition illustrations by artist Jay P. Snellgrove. Each honors a real dog – some with special stories – a reminder of how empty this world would be without the unconditional love and devotion of “man’s best friend".
The "Westie" on the label was about 8 weeks old when Jay photographed him for our 2010 Sauvignon Blanc. He was one of a litter of eight puppies bred by an author of crime novels living in Colorado. After climbing on his lap for about ten minutes, Jay was finally able to snap a shot when the little guy crawled away to play with a tennis ball that was too big for his mouth to get around. Not pictured on the label is the tennis ball he'd managed to snag with a very sharp puppy tooth!
Because of our lifelong love of our canine friends, we support worthy causes that involve dogs. We donate a minimum of 10 percent of our online sales to our charitable partners: Canine Companions for Independence and Morris Animal Foundation’s "Canine Cancer Campaign". In addition to monetary support, we hope to raise public awareness and understanding of the causes our wines support, perhaps encouraging more people to become involved in their efforts.
